So they tell me we are leaving . . . 2 more days in the most dog friendly place in the world and i have to leave?!?!? I'm told it's not the end, only the beginning of a fabulous journey. But before I leave here, I have a new slogan for the town: "Coming to Telluride. . .must love dogs!" Everyone here owns one and they don't have to be on leashes! WOW! BOW WOW! We'll see how the rest of the world is! Anyway, enough about me. . .

Since I last posted we have been very busy. Besides skiing every day from 9:00 to 4:00 (out of 29 days, Chris has skied all but one day, Bryce all but 2 days, and Lori, all but 3), they have gone snowshoeing, exploring the town, and done lots of walking (their feet are their mode of transportation here along with the gondola). Chris went heliskiing in the next town at a mountain called Silverton. He had a spectacular time! We also have had some wonderful visitors over February vacation - Matt, Carmensol, Max, and Isa from Maine and Alex and Marla from DC (Alex is the real-life character from the book "Alexander and the Terrible Horrible no good very bad day" but he's all grown up now) - sooo much fun with them!!!

The food here continues to inspire our tastebuds! We have tried just about every restaurant and bar in Telluride and Mountain Village! Lori says this is truly a "foodie town" just like Portland. Our favorite is a place called "There"; it's a fun name and evokes lots of conversation! If you come here, you have to go There!

Lori says she could live here (except they don't have indoor tennis courts). She was being reflective of the month today as she walked to the gondola on the river path. This has been a month in a town where time has stood relatively still. People are calm, happy, and fulfilled. Nature provides a backdrop that makes your jaw drop every day. Outside activities are everywhere. Nature provides the art, and the artists oblige. Only happy and nice dogs live here (they take after their owners). She will cry when she leaves (but she always cries).

I have to get packing and so . . . until Bora Bora - love and licks!

Telluride Continues - End of Week 1

February 7 - Can't believe we've been here for a week already! And what have we been doing? Skiing!!! We skied for five days straight (Bryce spent 3 days at ski school) and finally took a day off yesterday. It snowed all day and most of the night and we had a 12" powder day today with the most spectacular blue sky ever! Check out the new pics - especially the ones of me! We toured the town yesterday (Bryce made a great video so check that out as well on You Tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=An00bUcUo0c ), went to the post office, the library, looked at the shops yada yada yada but wait! Did you see where we dined?!?!? A place just for me . . . and then they had this sign posted outside of the post office: "puppy parking" - does someone really think I get parked outside? I think not!
Anyway, Bryce is becoming an unbellievable skier - he has conquered most of the mountain which is no small feat! He goes down double black diamonds that are steeper than anything we have in the east! He is a small mogul meister! Oh yeah, Mrs. Russell, he is doing his schoolwork as well. He and Lori do a couple of hours in the morning and in the afternoon - needless to say, he is ready for bed at night. He reads, I snuggle in, and oh yeah! Goodnight Irene!
Chris and Lori? They just keep saying things like: we are so lucky, this place is unbelievable, love this moutain, the natural beauty is indescribable, lovin life yada yada yada . . . I think it all means that they are having a great time. We are hitting the slopes again tomorrow - big surprise!

Until next time, lots of love and licks!!

First Day in Telluride

February1 - So hey, here we are at our first stop! Check out the pic of me basking in the sun at 12,000 feet and enjoying lunch! Who knew this was going to be so awesome? Smells, sounds, and beauty! Oh man, Chris talked about the snow and the dumps before we arrived, but when I think of dumps its kinda not the same as humans . . . anyway, he was right! The snow here is awesome and did I mention the beauty? It started on the plane ride at 5:30am yesterday - the sunrise was nothing I have ever seen AND I got to view it all the way to NY, absolutely amazing! Visual sensations are not something that usually makes my tail wag, but man am I learning! Then we were flying over the San Juan mountain range and I was in awe! THEN Telluride! Our digs are great, the town is awesome (lots of dogs by the way), lots of great food and skiing is off the hook! Check out some of the pics I am posting (some of me and I added some of the humans as well ). I am exhausted after our long trip yesterday and skiing all day so I'll sign off for now and post again soon! Love and licks!

LORI here - just wanted to say that we feel so blessed to have such fantastic friends! The well wishes, lunches, dinners, and parties were absolutely wonderful! Not to mention Paul, who got up at 4:00am to take us to the airport and Michael, who retrieved and delivered some forgotten things! We love and miss you all!
